Instagram has announced three new features for all users regarding the DM chat system. The first feature is Location Sharing, where you can share real-time coordinates with friends in DMs, with the information only staying visible for up to 1 hour. You can share locations in both 1:1 DMs or group chats, but you cannot share these coordinates outside of the chat, and the feature will be disabled by default. Instagram suggests that this feature is ideal for meeting up or specifying arrival times.
Next is the App-Chat Style feature, where you can set Nicknames for both users and contacts to make it easier to remember details of conversations or friends in chat groups. These changes will only apply to that chat room and will not affect other areas of Instagram, and you can switch back at any time.
Lastly, Stickers have been added for DMs, with an additional 17 new sticker sets to choose from.
TLDR: Instagram introduces Location Sharing, App-Chat Style Nicknames, and new Sticker sets for DMs.
