BioWare Restructures Studio, Core Team Focuses on Mass Effect While Employees Are Shifted to Assist Other Teams at EA

Studio BioWare has announced a new internal restructuring following the successful release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, leaving Mass Effect as the sole game currently in development.

A key point is that BioWare will be reducing its workforce, retaining only the core team responsible for developing the new installment of Mass Effect. This team consists of individuals who have previously worked on the original Mass Effect trilogy, namely Mike Gamble, Preston Watamaniuk, Derek Watts, and Parrish Ley.

BioWare has stated that the status of the new Mass Effect game is still in the pre-production phase and has not yet entered full production, hence the need for a smaller team. Over the past few months, BioWare has allocated its team to work on other EA projects based on each employee’s strengths.

The significant implication of this announcement lies in the status of the upcoming Mass Effect installment (referred to as the 5th installment for now, without a definitive title), which suggests that it will take several more years before the game is actually realized.

TLDR: BioWare is restructuring internally after the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with Mass Effect as the only game currently in development. The core team is working on the new Mass Effect installment, indicating a significant wait for fans before the game is completed.
