Pioneering Cloud Scalping: CoreWeave Unveils Blackwell GB200 Rental Services as Industry’s Vanguard.

NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPU is now officially available for rent on the cloud (Generally Available status). The first cloud provider to offer rental services for the NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 is none other than CoreWeave, a cloud service that focuses on renting out GPUs.

Established in 2017 by a group of investors originally involved in cryptocurrency mining with GPUs, CoreWeave shifted its focus to GPU rentals when the cryptocurrency market crashed in 2018. The company rebranded as CoreWeave in 2019.

CoreWeave’s rental service utilizes the GB200 chip, known as Grace Blackwell, which utilizes NVIDIA’s GPU solution. The rack consists of 36 Grace units and 72 Blackwell units connected via Quantum-2 InfiniBand. For those with deep pockets, renting up to 11,000 Blackwell GPUs is possible but requires direct sales contact for pricing details.

Some major cloud providers, such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, have been testing Blackwell GPUs beforehand. However, in terms of Generally Available services, CoreWeave stands out as the pioneer.
