Amazon ceases video conferencing service within organization with Amazon Chime

Amazon has announced that Amazon Chime, a video conferencing communication tool for organizations similar to Zoom or Google Meet, will be discontinued on February 20, 2026, affecting new customer registrations starting today.

Existing Amazon Chime customers can continue to use the platform for scheduling appointments and managing meetings until February 20, 2026, after which all data will be deleted. Developers using Amazon Chime SDK will not be impacted by this service closure.

Amazon is providing tools for system administrators to migrate data to other communication platforms such as AWS Wickr, Zoom, WebEx, or Slack instead.

An Amazon spokesperson reasoned the closure of Chime due to Amazon now offering better tools for customers to use and partners having solutions that are more favored by customers.
