LG Expands Gaming Portal Features from Smart TV to Smart Monitor Display

LG has announced its plan to push forward the Gaming Portal feature onto the “all types” of screens of its company by the year 2025. Currently available on Smart TVs with WebOS version 23 and above, it will expand to Smart Monitor devices and StandByMe stand-alone screens in the second quarter of 2025.

The Gaming Portal feature will support native gaming (on webOS) and cloud gaming through a variety of platforms such as NVIDIA GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, Blacknut, and Xbox Cloud Gaming as previously announced. It will include both simple games played with a remote and games that require a standard controller.

It’s not a new trend for TV manufacturers to enter the gaming market. Competitors like Samsung have already done so with their Samsung Gaming Hub or through Android TV, enabling direct play through cloud gaming apps on the Google Play Store.

TLDR: LG plans to expand the Gaming Portal feature to all screens by 2025, supporting both native and cloud gaming, following in the footsteps of competitors like Samsung.
