Google has released Android 16 Beta 3, which has now entered Platform Stability status, indicating that the API remains unchanged. The new features in this version include:
Support for Auracast, a new Bluetooth technology that distributes audio signals to multiple pairs of hearing aids simultaneously (for example, in crowded places like train stations, concerts, where important announcements need to be heard by a large number of people). This technology must be used with hearing aids that support LE Audio.
For those with visual impairments, Android 16 can display text in outline format with highlighted backgrounds underneath to increase contrast and improve readability (see accompanying image).
Support for Local Network Protection (LNP), a feature that limits access rights to devices on the network. In the next Android version, apps will need to request additional permissions to connect to other devices on the same local network.
According to Google’s plan, there will be 1-2 more versions of Android 16 Beta before the official release in the second quarter, and we can expect another Android version in the fourth quarter of this year.
