The progress of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake, unveiled in 2021, has faced development issues. The studio was changed to Saber in 2022, data was removed from the website in 2023, and Saber separated from parent company Embracer in 2024. The future of the project remains uncertain.
Most recently, Matt Karch, CEO of Saber, gave an interview to Game File towards the end of 2024 (the interview has just been released), confirming that the KOTOR Remake project is still in development but no further details were disclosed.
The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game was developed by BioWare and released in 2003, achieving great success. This was followed by a sequel developed by Obsidian Entertainment and the online game The Old Republic developed by BioWare.
