Unveiling Roblox’s Cube 3D Model: Crafting Tri-dimensional Objects from Prompts to Open Source

Roblox has unveiled its first artificial intelligence model named Cube 3D, which is a model for creating 3-dimensional objects from prompts. It was designed for creators to build various things in the Roblox universe, such as a “red car of the future with side wings.” The company has chosen to open-source the model for everyone to use in any scenario.

The underlying technology of the Cube 3D model is called 3D tokenization, which replaces 3-dimensional objects with a token system similar to text models. This allows the model to predict the “next shape” just like text models can predict the “next word.”

Currently, the Cube 3D model only supports text input, but it will be developed into a multimodal model that can also accept image inputs in the future.

Roblox states that the Cube 3D model can now create single objects, while creating more complex objects (such as a person sitting on a motorcycle) involves assembling two objects into a layout, which Roblox refers to as the 4th dimension (4D Creation signifies the relationship dimension between 3D objects) or mesh/scene generation, which will be further developed in the future.

The Roblox Cube 3D model will release its source code within this week.

TLDR: Roblox introduces Cube 3D, its AI model for creating 3-dimensional objects from prompts and plans to open-source it for public use. The model utilizes 3D tokenization technology and will eventually support image inputs alongside text inputs.
