Regent Acquires TechCrunch Business from Yahoo – A Strategic Investment Move.

TechCrunch, a prominent technology news website, has once again changed ownership. Yahoo, the previous owner, has agreed to sell TechCrunch to the investment firm Regent without disclosing the value of the deal.

Prior to this, Regent had acquired the operations of Foundry, a media company that owns PCWorld, Macworld, and TechAdvisor. TechCrunch was previously acquired by AOL in 2010, and later, Verizon acquired AOL. Following this, Verizon restructured its media companies under the umbrella of Oath, which eventually led to the decision to sell the media business to Apollo Global Management in 2021. This transition positioned TechCrunch as a subsidiary under Yahoo.

TechCrunch has stated that Yahoo still holds a stake in the company, but the decision to sell was driven by differing strategies compared to other Yahoo-owned entities, including the news website Engadget.

TLDR: TechCrunch changes ownership once again, with Yahoo selling the website to investment firm Regent. This move comes as part of a larger restructuring within the Yahoo-owned media companies.
