Cox Automotive, a market research company, has provided data on the electric vehicle (EV) market in the United States for the month of February 2025. Sales of new EVs reached 95,692 units, a growth of 10.5% from February 2024, marking the highest EV sales for February on record.
Looking at the overall market, EV sales accounted for 7.7% of total vehicle sales in the United States (with gasoline vehicles making up 93.8%). Tesla continues to dominate the best-selling car models, with the top 5 including the Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Honda Prologue, and Rivian R1S.
However, Tesla’s overall sales have decreased by 10% due to declines in sales of several models, such as the Cybertruck (down 32.5%), Model 3 (down 17.5%), and Model Y (down 3.1%).
The automotive brands that showed high growth this month were BMW, with a 20.9% increase, and Rivian, with a 34% increase. Cox Automotive did not disclose total sales data for each brand.
