Microsoft has begun rolling out the original Windows 11 AI features exclusively for Copilot+ PCs using the Snapdragon X chip, as part of an exclusive partnership with Qualcomm, for PCs using AMD/Intel CPUs as well.
Examples of these features have become somewhat familiar news, such as Live Caption for online meetings, playing videos from the device, Paint Cocreator, Photos Restyle Image, and Photos Image Creator.
PCs that will receive these features must have an AMD Ryzen AI 300 or Intel Core Ultra 200V and above (chips with built-in NPU). The functionality will be available in the March 2025 Windows update preview and will begin a broader release in April.
Microsoft has also added the Voice Access feature for hands-free command in more natural language than before. It is currently being used in Snapdragon X, with AMD/Intel PCs to follow later this year.
TLDR: Microsoft is introducing AI features to Windows 11, exclusively on Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X and expanding to AMD/Intel CPUs, with expected releases starting in March and reaching a wider audience in April. Additional Voice Access feature enhancements are also on the horizon.
