Strategically Unleashing: Bungie Unveils Marathon 3-Person Team Shooter Extractor, Set to Release in September

Bungie unveils the gameplay trailer for Marathon, a new first-person shooter set to debut in 2023, with a release date set for September 23, 2025.

Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter where players embark on missions against opposing teams in hazardous environments (PvPvE). Set on the planet Tau Ceti IV, a colony mysteriously abandoned, spacefarers compete for resources by sending hired “Runners” – cybernetic mercenaries to battle it out.

The market for extraction shooters is rapidly growing, with games like Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Delta Force leading the way. It comes as no surprise that major gaming giants such as Krafton, parent company of PUBG, and in this case, Bungie, creator of Halo and Destiny, are now venturing into this genre.

Marathon will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 23, 2025, supporting cross-play and cross-save. The game is now open for wishlisting on Steam, with a closed alpha testing scheduled for April 23, 2025.

TLDR: Bungie reveals Marathon, a team-based extraction shooter set for release on September 23, 2025, offering cross-play and cross-save capabilities across multiple platforms.
