Howard Lutnick, the US Secretary of Commerce, interviewed on ABC’s This Week, discussed the additional import tax exemptions on computer and electronics products recently announced last week, stating that it is only a temporary exemption.

Lutnick mentioned that these products will be subject to a new import tax called the Semiconductor Tax, expected to be announced within the next 1-2 months, with the goal of promoting manufacturing in the United States.

President Donald Trump posted a message on Truth Social on the same issue, stating that there will be no import tax exemptions, but the latest products announced will have a different type of import tax imposed.
