Achieve .NET Mastery with Cloud-Native Toolset for a Stable State

Microsoft has announced the release of .NET Aspire GA (General Availability), a software stack for developing cloud-native .NET apps that run on containers. The project, which started in preview mode since .NET 8 in 2023, has now reached stable status in the past week.

.NET Aspire includes tools for orchestration, service discovery, deployment, dashboard, and components to enhance the core of .NET. Software in the Aspire suite includes:

– App Host: Helps manage the orchestration of apps running in an app model that displays various system resources.
– Aspire Dashboard: Web-based dashboard displaying data like resources from App Host or extracted data from OpenTelemetry.
– Aspire Components: NuGet packages of popular libraries such as Redis, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, and various Azure components, customized for microservices with configurable support for handling dependencies, observability, and resiliency.

Deployment tools, such as using Azure Developer CLI (azd) via command-line, are also part of the offering.

.NET Aspire is considered a standalone toolset that can be installed via dotnet workload install aspire command and seamlessly integrated with ASP.NET and web development packages in Visual Studio 17.10.

TLDR: Microsoft has released .NET Aspire, a comprehensive software stack for building cloud-native .NET applications with enhanced tools for orchestration, deployment, and components.
