Cloudflare has announced the acquisition of Outerbase, a company specializing in database management system development.
Outerbase initially started as a UI for database management, displaying data in tables for editing without the need to worry about SQL language structures. However, they later expanded their business to other areas such as Starbase, a database built on Cloudflare Durable Objects but compatible with SQLite. Their latest offering is EZQL, an AI-powered database management solution.
Outerbase has had a pre-existing relationship with Cloudflare, previously integrating Outerbase’s management system with Cloudflare D1 databases. After collaborating for some time, Cloudflare decided to acquire Outerbase as part of their service portfolio.
Cloudflare has hinted that soon, Outerbase’s services will be integrated into various parts of Cloudflare, starting from the second quarter of 2025.
