Acquisition Alert: T-Mobile Announces Purchase of Network and Assets from UScellular

T-Mobile, a major player in the mobile phone network industry and ranked third in the United States, has announced a deal to acquire the core business network of UScellular. The deal is valued at $4.4 billion in a combination of cash payment and assuming debt obligations of UScellular.

It is important to note that T-Mobile is not purchasing all of the assets of UScellular. What they are acquiring are the customers of UScellular, all mobile phones, UScellular stores, and approximately 30% of the network assets that belong to UScellular. Additionally, T-Mobile will enter into a contract to lease more than 2,600 signal towers from UScellular.

UScellular states that this deal will allow their current customers to access a wider connected network of T-Mobile, including nationwide 5G coverage. The deal is expected to be finalized by mid-2025 as it requires approval from regulatory agencies.
