Spotify has announced its support for audiobooks narrated by AI, specifically those using ElevenLabs technology for high-quality voice readings. The use of AI for narration is deemed as a cost-effective way to create audiobooks, with ElevenLabs technology providing various voice options and settings in 29 languages (Thai not included). This offers authors another option to create audio versions of their books. Audiobooks narrated by AI will feature the message “This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice” at the beginning.
Prior to this, Spotify accepted audiobooks using “digital voices” from Google Play Books platform to be available on Spotify for sale. However, this time they are directly accepting audiobooks through Spotify’s own Findaway Voices platform.
