AIS Unveils OpenAPI for Businesses to Access Thailand’s First Telecommunications Technology Pathway

In recent years, the telecommunications business in Thailand has seen continuous development from the era of using telephones exclusively to providing SMS services and evolving into the current era of being a gateway for internet connectivity, opening up new opportunities for new businesses or various usage formats. However, the future after the AIS OpenAPI is poised to offer new opportunities for businesses.

The AIS OpenAPI allows external organizations to access data and features that were previously limited to the telecommunications network. By granting external organizations access to these functions, security is ensured, limiting the data that the authorized users can view, and adhering to standard practices.

Previously, telecommunications service providers may have offered various features for organizations with authorization to use. However, the complexities and differences in usage patterns often prolonged the development time of applications more than necessary.

The AIS OpenAPI is revolutionizing traditional usage by introducing new usage formats for enhanced security. Global telecommunications network service providers are recognizing the challenges in the lack of standardized feature opening guidelines, leading to the joint establishment of a standardized API called Camara API, allowing developers and businesses to directly access the capabilities of wireless telecommunications networks. AIS has already begun supporting some of these standards.

TLDR: AIS OpenAPI is reshaping the telecommunications landscape in Thailand by providing a standardized API framework that offers enhanced security and accessibility for businesses, paving the way for future innovations and collaborations across networks.
