DAMO Academy, the research institute of Alibaba, has unveiled SeaLLM version 3, a language model focusing on Southeast Asian languages with higher proficiency compared to similar models. It has even outperformed Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen2.
The testing process of SeaLLM3 utilized the M3Exam test suite, consisting of multilingual exams, and SeaBench for testing compliance with DAMO’s instructions. Results showed that SeaLLM3 scored slightly higher in Thai language exams compared to Qwen2-7B-Instruct, and SeaBench scores in Thai language were clearer than Qwen2. Additionally, when tested on translation abilities using the Flores-200 dataset, SeaLLM3 translated Thai language better than other models like Llama 3 and Qwen2.
SeaLLM is available for free under the SeaLLM License agreement, with restrictions on usage exceeding 100 million users per month.
