Amazon Cognito, the customer identity and access management (CIAM) service, has announced a major update to its capabilities after being in operation for a decade. Along with this update comes a new pricing structure that has made the overall cost more expensive.
The new features of Cognito include a simpler app setup process, support for all major frameworks, customizable login screens hosted on AWS, and support for passwordless logins using Passkey, SMS, and email.
However, the most significant change is in pricing. Previously, Cognito offered free service for up to 50,000 users per month, which was sufficient for medium-sized websites. The new service now limits the package to 10,000 users per month, with a cost of $0.015 per user, nearly three times more expensive than the previous package of $0.0055 per user.

TLDR: Amazon Cognito has introduced new features and a revised pricing structure, making it more user-friendly but also more expensive.
