Amazon Web Services Announces Additional Investment in Japan: Allocating a Whopping 2.26 Trillion Yen to Foster AI Expansion

Amazon Web Services, also known as AWS, has announced plans to invest ¥2.26 trillion (¥540 billion) by 2027 in cloud infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI. This investment will be used to expand data centers in Tokyo and Osaka, in response to the increasing needs of customers. Prior to this, AWS had invested ¥1.51 trillion in infrastructure in Japan from 2011 to 2022.

Currently, AWS has large customers in Japan who are utilizing Generative AI, including Asahi Group, Marubeni, and Nomura Holdings.

TLDR: AWS will invest ¥2.26 trillion to expand its cloud infrastructure in Japan to support the growing demand for AI. This investment will enable the expansion of data centers in Tokyo and Osaka.
