AMD Chipset Framework: A Cutting-Edge PC Package for AI Processing with 128GB RAM at $1,999

Framework, a leading manufacturer of easily repairable PCs, has unveiled their latest PC desktop model featuring the AMD Strix Halo chipset, powered by the Zen 5 CPU with an additional 40 cores for graphics. The standout feature is the massive 128GB unified memory unit, allowing for running large-scale AI models like DeepSeek effortlessly.

Despite Framework’s focus on user-repairable computers, the Framework Desktop directly integrates the CPU and RAM onto the motherboard, limiting upgrade options to only the storage. Additionally, users have the option to purchase just the motherboard for customization purposes.

Comparing this desktop model to NVIDIA DIGITS, a small AI computer with 128GB of RAM, the Framework model comes at a more affordable price point starting at $3,000. Although lacking benchmarks for performance comparison, the appeal of the Framework model lies in its cost-effectiveness.

The motherboard includes PCIe slots, but the case lacks expansion slots, meaning serious enthusiasts who require high-speed networking may need to purchase additional expansion cards separately.

Available in three sub-models – AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 with 32GB RAM for $1,099, AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 64GB RAM for $1,599, and AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 128GB RAM for $1,999 – customers can now sign up for early delivery in the fastest delivery for the third quarter of this year.

TLDR: Framework introduces a user-repairable desktop PC with AMD Strix Halo chipset, offering massive 128GB unified memory for running large AI models. The cost-effective model competes with NVIDIA DIGITS and is available in three configurations for early delivery.
