American Men Displeased by US Ban on TikTok Sparks Fiery Debates in Congress Chambers

A recent report by Business Insider revealed that a 19-year-old American man from Wisconsin set fire to the office of Representative Glenn Grothman last week out of frustration with TikTok being banned. The office building suffered moderate damage but no injuries were reported.

Grothman is among those who voted for legislation requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok operations in the United States, or else the app would be banned. It was seen as a growing national security threat.

Although the US Supreme Court had previously ruled to ban TikTok, President Donald Trump issued a 75-day halt on enforcing the ban to allow for more time to find a solution that could protect national security, resulting in TikTok being banned in the US for only 12 hours.
