Hirpyuki Sakamoto, the production director at RGG Studio, the game’s developer, explained that Dondoko Island is a unlockable gameplay mode that diverges from the game’s main storyline.

From small trinkets to towering structures, players can unleash their creativity and even establish a thriving homestay business on the island while fending off invaders.
