Google has provided an explanation for the issue with Gmail that users have encountered, where emails are being sent out late. This incident occurred twice in the past week. The first occurrence was from November 30th, 23:30 – December 1st, 4:15 Thailand time. The second occurrence was on December 2nd, from 1:52 – 3:30. Fortunately, the impact on users in Thailand was not widespread.
The cause of the problem originates from the main text management system, which received abnormal graphic formats of emails. As a result, the system’s resource usage increased significantly, causing delays in sending out emails. A preliminary solution for this is to allocate sufficient resources in the affected zone. Additionally, limits have been imposed to prevent excessive graphic content from consuming resources.
During the mentioned timeframe, Gmail users experienced delays in email sending by at least 5 minutes, or in some cases, emails were not sent successfully.
TLDR: Google has addressed the issue of delayed email sending in Gmail. The problem was caused by abnormal graphic formats in the main text management system, leading to increased resource usage. While users in Thailand were affected, measures have been implemented to allocate sufficient resources and impose limits to prevent further disruptions.
