Kamila Wojciechowska has unveiled through X-ray discoveries in the latest beta update of Google Play Services version 23.50.13. Google has indicated that Nearby Share, the file sharing feature in Android similar to iOS’s AirDrop, has been rebranded as Quick Share.
Google introduced and has been using the name Nearby Share since 2020. Other than the name change, the icon for Quick Share has also been modified to include overlapping arrows (see example in the post’s conclusion).
Interestingly, users of Samsung may be familiar with this name as well, as the same feature that functions similarly on Galaxy smartphones is also called Quick Share. However, it is currently unknown whether this change is related to Samsung or not.
