Another highlight of the Mac mini M4 chip that has just been unveiled is its significantly smaller size. Due to this compactness, Apple has announced that it is the first Mac product to be Carbon Neutral, supporting Apple’s 2030 goal of making all activities and products carbon neutral.
Apple states that the new Mac mini is made with over 50% recycled materials, with the device itself being 100% recycled aluminum, circuit boards coated with 100% recycled gold, and Rare earth elements being 100% recycled. Transportation is done by sea to reduce carbon emissions, and the packaging is entirely paper-based with no plastic, resulting in a substantial reduction in carbon footprint by over 80%, with the remainder offset by purchasing carbon credits.
Apple already has carbon neutral products in its lineup, starting with the Apple Watch series that was introduced in 2023 (Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2).
