Announcement from Meta: Llama model surpasses 1 billion downloads threshold

Meta has announced that the large-scale artificial intelligence model Llama has been downloaded over 1,000 million times, increasing nearly threefold from the numbers in August of last year, and taking approximately 2 years since its launch in February 2023.

The growth of Llama can be attributed to its significant feature of being an open-source model almost entirely. It has a slight limitation in that it can only be used for commercial purposes if not for large-scale services, leading to widespread downloads, installations, and usage.

Next month, Meta will be hosting the LlamaCon seminar focusing on artificial intelligence content, with expectations of Meta introducing the new version Llama 4 during this event.

TLDR: Meta’s Llama AI model has seen a significant increase in downloads, with plans to introduce Llama 4 at the upcoming LlamaCon seminar.
