Announcement: Victor Peng, Chairman of AMD and former CEO of Xilinx, Announces Retirement from Position.

AMD has announced that Victor Peng, the President of the company, will retire from his position on August 30, 2024. Following his retirement, he will serve as an advisor to the executives and support the transition until his retirement date.

Formerly an engineer at AMD, Victor had previously worked at Xilinx, a FPGA company, for 14 years before returning to AMD in 2022 through the acquisition deal of Xilinx. This deal has significantly increased AMD’s market share in the FPGA group.

AMD stated that Vamsi Boppana, the Senior Vice President of AMD’s AI business, will take over Victor’s position, overseeing both Xilinx and AI products. Meanwhile, Salil Raje, the Senior Vice President of Embedded Computing, will remain in his current position but report directly to CEO Dr. Lisa Su.
