Anthropic, the artificial intelligence development company, announced a Series E investment round totaling 3.5 billion dollars with a business valuation of 61.5 billion dollars. Leading the round is Lightspeed Venture, along with a consortium of investors including Bessemer Venture, Cisco, D1 Capital, Fidelity, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures, Salesforce, as well as previous investors.
Previously, there were reports of Anthropic raising a new funding round with a business valuation of around 60 billion dollars.
Anthropic stated that the funds from this new round will be utilized for the development of the next generation AI, increasing processing power, investing more in research, and expanding international marketing efforts.
Just last week, Anthropic introduced the latest model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and the Claude Code AI Agent tool to assist in coding.
