Apple Modifies App Store Terms in the United States to Allow Additional External Payment Methods

Apple has agreed to adjust the text in the App Review Guidelines for the App Store in the United States in accordance with the highest order of the United States.

The changes are in sections 3.1.1 and 3.1.3, which prohibit apps from finding ways to make payments outside and from linking to ways to make payments outside. Apple has included exceptions to these conditions for apps published on the App Store in the United States.

Several popular apps have announced updates to comply with these changes. Both Spotify and Patreon, as well as Epic Games, are considering making a big offer to Apple to unlock these conditions globally in exchange for withdrawing lawsuits worldwide.
