Apple Set to Unveil New Generation Siri with Generative AI Focus at Upcoming WWDC Event

A report from The New York Times cited sources related to Apple’s Generative AI project, which is expected to be unveiled in more detail at the WWDC event in June. It will come in the form of a new version of Siri, an intelligent virtual assistant system that utilizes Generative AI as its main structure.

The report states that Apple has chosen to enhance Siri to support continuous conversations and better understand new requests by using Generative AI. Instead of introducing a chatbot that can do everything like ChatGPT, Apple has decided to develop Generative AI in this direction since the beginning of 2023, calling it the Siri brain transformation.

The decision-makers behind this are Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea, after both tested ChatGPT for a period of time before deciding to improve Siri in this way. The new capabilities that Siri will have include summarizing messages, summarizing notifications, and performing all functions on the device level to emphasize privacy concerns by not sending data for external processing.
