Apple’s Revamped Autonomous Vehicle Project Rumored: Aiming for Level 2+ Autonomy by 2028

According to the latest report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has made adjustments to its autonomous car project. The company has been developing this project and releasing news about it for several years. However, the new information indicates that Apple has revised its plans and has reduced the features and capabilities of the autonomous vehicle.

Originally, Apple aimed to develop a level 4 self-driving car, which would be capable of driving itself within certain limited areas. But now, Apple has shifted its development plan to a level 2+ autonomous system, similar to Tesla’s current system, where drivers still need to pay attention to the road and control the vehicle.

In addition to the changes in the autonomous system goals, the timeline has also been pushed back. The original plan was to introduce the self-driving car in 2026, but it is now projected to be launched in 2028 at the earliest. If the development does not progress as planned by that time, Apple’s executives may reconsider the future of the entire project.

TLDR: Apple has adjusted its autonomous car project, lowering the level of autonomy and pushing back the timeline for its release. The new plan aims for a level 2+ autonomous system launch in 2028 or later.
