Sonos recently appointed Hugo Barra as a member of its board of directors, effective as of April 7th. Mike Volpi, another board member, will step down after serving in this position at Sonos for 15 years.
Hugo Barra, a former high-level executive at Android, left Google in 2013 to join Xiaomi and oversee the company’s expansion into international markets outside of China. He later moved to Meta to manage the VR business and departed in 2021. Following this, he founded an AI startup called /dev/agents.
Bringing Barra on board as a board member, with his experience in developing product markets for consumers, is expected to help address the challenges that Sonos has faced recently.
