AT&T Report: Massive Data Breach Incident Impacts Nearly All Customers in 2022.

AT&T, a major telecommunications company in the United States, has reported a customer data breach incident, which may be one of the largest data leaks ever. The company disclosed that the data was downloaded from their office on a cloud platform by a 3rd party.
An investigation revealed that the downloaded data included call records, text messages, and interactions with nearly all customers of AT&T’s mobile phones from May 1, 2022, to October 31, 2022, and January 2, 2023. The records indicated which numbers contacted each other and the duration of each interaction.
The leaked data did not include the content of conversations or messages, timestamps, or personally identifiable information of customers. However, AT&T mentioned that even though the data didn’t contain customer names, phone numbers could still be traced back to their owners through other means.
AT&T became aware of this incident in April and immediately began collaborating with experts to investigate. They have notified all impacted customers, including those who are no longer with the company. AT&T believes that the data has not been publicly disclosed at this time and is taking legal action to apprehend all individuals involved, with one individual already in custody.
