True Corporation Public Company Limited (True Corp) has commenced sending SMS alerts for natural disaster warnings in collaboration with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT).
These alerts will be identified by the sender name “DDPM,” derived from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in English. The decision to send these notifications lies with DDPM before True disseminates them. The alerts come in two forms: advance notifications 12-24 hours ahead and emergency alerts 6-12 hours prior.
The initial batch of messages sent included a warning about the overflow of Wang Lom River in 3 sub-districts of Ko Kha district, Lampang province. This precaution aims to ensure that residents in the area are prepared to respond promptly.
