Blue Origin, the space company founded by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has announced mission NS-31 to launch the New Shepard rocket for a space edge experience with a crew of six, marking the 11th launch of this rocket. The highlight of this mission is that all six crew members are women, a rare occurrence in space travel since Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to journey into space in 1963.
The crew of six includes Lauren Sanchez, Bezos’ fiancée and a leader on this mission, Aisha Bowe, a businesswoman and former NASA scientist, Amanda Nguyen, a space biologist who will be the first female astronaut from Vietnam and Southeast Asia, Gayle King, a news anchor from CBS, Kerianne Flynn, a film producer, and Katy Perry, a renowned female singer.
With the New Shepard project, 52 humans have now traveled to space.
