Bluesky Enhances Skytick Verification System for Organizational Account Authentication, Allowing Corporate Accounts to Verify Personal Accounts, a Decentralized Approach

Bluesky announces an update to their verified blue checkmark system, a familiar symbol to social media users. Initially limited to verified organizational accounts, Bluesky now extends verification to all accounts. This change allows organizations to verify their identity by linking their domain name to their Bluesky account, granting them the coveted blue tick mark. For example, the New York Times, a verified organization, can now verify individual journalists within the organization. This decentralization of the verification process ensures that Bluesky is not the sole authority.

Users can cross-check accounts with the blue checkmark to see which organization has certified them, whether it be Bluesky itself or another entity. Bluesky recommends that general users first establish an organizational account for verification, then use that account to verify personal accounts.

TLDR: Bluesky updates their blue checkmark verification system to include all accounts, allowing organizations to verify their identity and individuals to verify with organizational accounts.
