Bungie unshackles employees, postpones Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Marathon

Bungie, the renowned video game studio behind Destiny, has recently laid off an undisclosed number of employees. This move comes after the completion of their partnership with Sony in the middle of 2022, lasting a mere 15 months.

Bungie is not the only studio to be letting go of staff during this period. Naughty Dog, the creators of The Last of Us, and the Visual Arts team at PlayStation Studios have also had to make similar decisions.

According to Bloomberg, it has been reported that Bungie’s development of two games, namely Destiny 2 Expansion – The Final Shape and the upcoming Marathon, have both been delayed. The former is now set to launch in June 2024, while the latter is slated for release in 2025.

TLDR: Bungie, the studio responsible for Destiny, has laid off employees following the completion of their partnership with Sony. The delay of two upcoming games has also been announced.
