Cancellation of Nintendo’s Gold Points Program Takes Effect on March 25th

Nintendo has announced the discontinuation of the My Nintendo Gold Points accumulation program for purchases starting from March 25, 2025 onwards. This initiative rewarded users with 5% of the game’s price in points, which could be used as discounts on future purchases. The company did not provide a specific reason for the termination of this program, while the Platinum Points scheme remains unaffected.

According to Nintendo, Gold Points will still be awarded to customers in certain cases, such as pre-ordering games before March 25 and receiving them later. These points will have a validity of 12 months from the date of issuance.

Speculations suggest that Nintendo might be discontinuing the Gold Points system in anticipation of a new system to be introduced after the launch of Switch 2, indicating the imminent release of new consoles and games shortly thereafter.

TLDR: Nintendo is ending the My Nintendo Gold Points program for purchases made after March 25, 2025, possibly to make way for a new system post Switch 2 launch.
