Celebrating 30 Years of Doom: John Romero Unveils the Sophistication of SIGIL II

Today, on December 10th, the beloved game Doom commemorates its 30th anniversary. To mark this momentous occasion, John Romero, the creator of the original Doom, has released a brand new episode called SIGIL II.

Romero had previously released another episode named SIGIL when Doom turned 25 years old. SIGIL is regarded as a mod for the original version of Doom and requires the main game to play. Those interested in experiencing SIGIL II can purchase the digital version on Romero’s website for the price of 6.66 euros.

John Romero stands alone as the individual celebrating Doom’s 30th anniversary. His former partner, John Carmack, and the current rights holder of Doom, Bethesda, have not made any posts regarding Doom on this occasion. Romero himself has announced that he is currently working on a new FPS game unrelated to Doom, but there is no further news on that front.

In a Twitter post, Romero expressed his gratitude for being part of the incredible Doom team and thanked players for keeping Doom alive throughout these many years. The tweet was accompanied by a celebratory image.

The night draws near, and SIGIL II will launch in just a few hours, honoring Doom’s 30th anniversary. At 10pm GMT, join me for a live unboxing on Twitch as we delve into the excitement of this release.

TLDR: Today, John Romero, the creator of the original Doom, celebrates the game’s 30th anniversary with the release of SIGIL II. Those interested can purchase the digital version on Romero’s website. While Romero is involved in a new FPS project unrelated to Doom, there have been no further updates.
