Last month, Bloomberg reported that Tencent’s in-house studio is developing a mobile game with a similar style to Palworld. Recently, Takuro Mizobe, CEO of Pocketpair, the developers of Palworld, posted on X that he doesn’t feel Tencent is doing anything wrong and is proud to see other studios drawing inspiration from Palworld. In the past, new things in the gaming industry often borrow ideas from games developers love.
Despite a continuous decrease in player numbers, the development team at Palworld has no plans to abandon the game. They are planning future updates that will include both PVP and Arena modes, as well as porting the game to other platforms (currently only available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One).
TLDR: Tencent accused of copying Palworld, CEO of Pocketpair proud of the industry’s innovation. Palworld developers continue to update the game and plan for future expansions to different platforms.
