Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, has revealed that the messaging service will now start providing user information such as IP addresses and phone numbers if requested by law enforcement agencies in compliance with legal regulations. Telegram has updated its service terms accordingly.
In the past, Telegram has been known to be unresponsive or even outright reject requests for user information from government agencies. This is a contributing factor to Durov’s recent arrest in France.
Aside from this, Telegram is also developing a content management system on its platform, utilizing both AI and human moderators to remove problematic content from search results. Previously, Telegram had added tools for users to report illegal or unsafe content.
