CEOs Unveil Panther Lake Showcase: Authentic 18A Production Scale for Sale in 2025

Last month, Intel unveiled the Lunar Lake chip for notebooks, marking the Core Ultra series 200 as the second in the new Core Ultra era.

Intel’s grand plan for notebooks kicks off with the Core Ultra series 100 Meteor Lake in 2023, followed by Core Ultra 200V Lunar Lake in 2024, and Panther Lake arriving in 2025, likely to be branded as Core Ultra 300 to dominate the market.

Most recently, Pat Gelsinger, the CEO of Intel, took the stage at Lenovo’s annual seminar yesterday (the same event where they announced the x86 collaboration with AMD) and showcased the Panther Lake chip.

Gelsinger revealed that Lunar Lake elevates the CPU with an NPU feature to address battery issues for prolonged usage. But we’re not stopping there. Our next step is Panther Lake, manufactured using Intel’s new 18A process.

Details on Panther Lake reveal the utilization of Panther Cove (P-Core) and Darkmont (E-Core) cores, Xe3-LPG GPU, vertically packaged Foveros, a 2x increase in NPU performance from Lunar Lake or 6x from Meteor Lake, and utilizing Intel’s 18A manufacturing process.

Intel vaguely mentioned that Panther Lake is slated for a 2025 release, without specifying a specific timeframe. If Intel continues its annual chip release system, we can expect it towards the end of Q3 or early Q4 as usual.
