Dongyu E-sports, an esports cafe in the city of Yueyang, China, recently unveiled their cutting-edge computers powered by Intel Core i9-14900K and GeForce RTX 4090D, featuring a 540Hz monitor for gamers seeking top-notch performance. As a result, this branded cafe (with a total of 6 branches) has gained immense popularity, with a full house on weekends where usage peaks at 100% and even remains high at 80% in the early hours.
However, a hiccup arose when the Core i9-14900K CPU, part of the 14th Gen Raptor Lake group, proved to be unstable, causing the dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) after some usage, impacting Dongyu E-sports’ business. The cafe had to refund credits and offer complimentary drinks to customers who encountered screen glitches and overheating issues while gaming.
This problem surfaced in December 2023, prompting Dongyu E-sports to reach out to Intel for a solution. Intel engineers made adjustments to ensure the CPU’s stability. Xie Liuqiu, the cafe owner, expressed satisfaction with Intel’s response and pledged to continue using Core i9 in all his branches, with the main branch housing 171 machines with the Core i9-14900K and a few with lower specifications.
TLDR: Dongyu E-sports in Yueyang, China, faced CPU stability issues with the Intel Core i9-14900K but resolved it with Intel’s help, continuing to use Core i9 across all branches.
