Discord announced that Jason Citron, CEO and co-founder of Discord, will step down from the CEO position, while still maintaining a seat on the company’s board and serving as a consultant for the transition to a new CEO, effective as of April 28, 2025. The new CEO of Discord is Humam Sakhnini, a former Vice President of Activision Blizzard with experience as former President of King Digital, now a subsidiary of Activision. Citron, in an interview with VentureBeat, highlighted Discord’s growth and strong financial standing with consecutive positive EBITDA for the past five years. With a robust platform for gaming communities, Sakhnini’s background in the gaming industry is expected to enhance user experiences.
Lastly, Citron mentioned his future endeavors post-CEO role, including clearing games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Blue Prince, and Baldur’s Gate III.
