Starpery Technology, based in Senzhen, China, is gearing up to release rubber dolls (robots?) incorporating technology similar to ChatGPT, enabling the dolls to interact and engage in conversations, along with various sensors to assist with movement. The prototype is anticipated to hit the market by August.
Evan Lee, the CEO of Starpery, aims to deepen the interaction between humans and dolls, introducing plans for a ‘Smart service robot’ by 2025 to aid in household chores, care for the disabled and elderly. Furthermore, they envision enhancing the dolls to take on hazardous tasks in place of humans by 2030.
Lee acknowledges the need to address battery life and material flexibility issues in the dolls, as well as ethical concerns from society regarding the potential threat to human relationships and cultural implications of these advanced dolls.
Despite China’s conservationist reputation, the country’s rubber doll market is not thriving as expected, with Starpery being a pioneer in integrating AI technology. Other companies also have plans to introduce interactive products in the future.
TLDR: Starpery Technology in China is set to launch advanced rubber dolls with AI technology for improved interaction and functionality, despite cultural and ethical concerns.
