Canalys and IDC have released reports on the smartphone market share in China for the third quarter of 2024. According to the reports, Vivo, the reigning champion from the previous quarter, has successfully retained its position at the top of the market.
Canalys provides an overview of the smartphone market showing a 4% growth from the same quarter last year. Vivo sold 13 million smartphones, marking a 25% increase and capturing the number one spot with a 19% market share. Huawei follows in second place with a 16% market share, experiencing a 24% growth. The sibling duo, Honor, saw a decline of 13% in sales, holding a 15% market share. Xiaomi showed a 13% growth in sales, also holding a 15% market share, while Apple, despite the demand for the iPhone 16, saw a 6% decline in sales, holding a 14% market share.
On the other hand, IDC reports a 3.2% growth in the Chinese market, with Vivo leading the pack with a 21.5% increase in sales and holding an 18.6% market share. The remaining positions in the top 5 differ between the two reports, with Apple claiming second place with a 15.6% market share, Huawei in third place with 15.3%, Xiaomi in fourth with 14.8%, and Honor in fifth with 14.6%.
