Cisco leads Tech companies in establishing AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium to address AI-induced job impact challenges

Cisco has teamed up with technology companies such as Accenture, Eightfold, Google, IBM, Indeed, Intel, Microsoft, and SAP, as well as six consulting firms to establish the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium. This collaborative initiative will assess the impact of AI on ICT roles, which may see an increased role played by AI.

The consortium will evaluate how AI is reshaping job functions and what additional skills or reskilling/upskilling employees need in an increasingly AI-influenced work environment. Initially, the consortium will assess 56 ICT job roles to determine the impact of AI and identify training needs. This analysis is based on the high number of job postings in the past year.

Members of the consortium have set specific targets, with Cisco planning to train 25 million individuals in cybersecurity and digital skills by 2032, IBM aiming to enhance digital skills for 30 million people by 2030, and train 2 million individuals in AI, among others.

TLDR: Cisco partners with tech companies and consulting firms to establish the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium, which aims to assess the impact of AI on ICT roles and provide necessary training for employees in an AI-driven work environment. Members have set targets to upskill millions of individuals in cybersecurity, digital skills, and AI.
