Co-founder of Airbnb, Joe Gebbia, Set to Join DOGE in Revolutionizing Design Thinking and Start-up Innovation to Enhance Government Efficiency

Business Insider reports that Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, is preparing to join Elon Musk’s DOGE department, feeling incredibly excited and ready to utilize design thinking and entrepreneurial spirit to help enhance government efficiency.

Gebbia’s first order of business is to revamp the outdated retirement system for government employees still using paper documents to bring it up to date, with a goal to reduce the processing time from 64 days to just 1 week.

Previously, Musk criticized the slow processing of retirement applications for government employees, limiting retirements to only 10,000 people per month due to paperwork inefficiencies.

Gebbia’s involvement in the DOGE department does not indicate whether he will receive a salary or not. Earlier this month, the White House confirmed that Musk is a special government employee and does not receive compensation.

Having a strong relationship with Musk and formerly serving on Tesla’s board since 2022, Gebbia once mentioned in an interview with Reuters that Musk was interested in purchasing a home from Samara, Gebbia’s startup company.

TLDR: Joe Gebbia of Airbnb is set to join Elon Musk’s DOGE department to enhance government efficiency, starting with modernizing the retirement system for government employees and potentially working without compensation.
